Each year, we put out a call across the archipelago inviting emerging writers to submit their stories. After receiving hundreds of submissions, an independent curatorial board selects aspiring novelists, poets, and playwrights from Indonesia’s bustling cities and remote islands. Once chosen, these emerging writers are invited to launch the Anthology at the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival.

This bilingual publication, the Anthology, offers a significant opportunity for emerging writers to have their work translated into English, opening doors to international opportunities for the first time. With over 226 writers selected to date, this has become one of Indonesia’s most far-reaching literary achievements, representing voices from across the entire archipelago.

A contribution of IDR 11,000,000, AUD 1,000 or USD 650 will fully support one emerging writer. This includes their round-trip airfare to Bali, a daily per diem, five nights of accommodation in Ubud, and all ground transportation and airport transfers. With your support, you're helping open doors and create meaningful connections for the next generation of writers.

Your generosity will be warmly recognized with an invitation to the Festival’s Opening Night Gala. During the Gala, you will receive a certificate of appreciation in recognition of your support. You will also have an exclusive opportunity to meet our emerging writers and patron family at a special event during the 2025 Festival. Additionally, your support will be publicly acknowledged during the 2025 Anthology Book Launch, and your name will be listed as a supporter in the Festival Programme Book and on our website.
