Tito Ambyo is an Indonesian writer, journalist, lecturer, and PhD candidate at RMIT University’s School of Media and Communication. He combines anthropological and journalistic methods to explore storytelling, spirituality, and the intersection of technology and human experience. His doctoral research, Digital Haunting in Indonesia, examines how horror vloggers use ghost stories to reflect on digital technologies and spiritual expression online. Previously a journalist with the ABC, Tito is also a filmmaker, poet, and playwright. His awards include the Ossie Award for ‘Best Innovation in Journalism’ in 2017, and a City of Moreland grant for Re(lu)minescence, a project on light, memory, and social change.
Tito Ambyo adalah penulis, jurnalis, dosen, dan kandidat PhD asal Indonesia di School of Media and Communication, RMIT University. Ia memadukan metode antropologi dan jurnalistik untuk mengeksplorasi seni bercerita, spiritualitas, serta persimpangan antara teknologi dan pengalaman manusia. Penelitian doktoralnya, Digital Haunting in Indonesia, meneliti bagaimana vlogger horor menggunakan cerita hantu untuk merefleksikan teknologi digital dan ekspresi spiritual secara daring. Sebelumnya bekerja sebagai jurnalis di ABC, Tito juga merupakan pembuat film, penyair, dan penulis naskah drama. Penghargaan yang pernah diterimanya antara lain Ossie Award untuk Best Innovation in Journalism pada 2017, serta hibah City of Moreland untuk Re(lu)minescence, sebuah proyek tentang cahaya, memori, dan perubahan sosial.
