Bar Luna at Casa Luna

Join Bornean-Australian artist, rapper, poet, and author Omar Musa as he shares his newly released and long-awaited second novel. Fierceland is a post-capitalist family saga set against Malaysian Borneo’s deforestation. The ghosts of colonialism, secrecy, and brutal environmental corruption collide as two siblings reckon with their history – and their father’s treacherous wealth. Musa’s unique lyrical expression and borderless approach to language facilitate astute insight into ancestral legacy, personal suffering, and social forces. His work was longlisted for the 2015 Miles Franklin Award, and Musa was named one of The Sydney Morning Herald’s 2015 Young Novelists of the Year. Hear from him as he speaks on Fierceland, its acclamation, and his multifaceted creative practice.
